Client Quote Tool
Background
The Client Quote Tool allows customers to generate and customize their own client-facing quotes based on a dealer’s original quote. Customers can add markups, include additional fees, and personalize the presentation before sharing the quote with their end client.
This feature gives dealers more visibility into their customers’ downstream quoting process and helps everyone move faster from quote to order.
Who can use this
- Customers with access to the Quotes tab in the Customer Portal.
- Available to all dealers who have the Quotes feature enabled.
Before you start
- The dealer’s quote must still be within its expiry date for a customer quote to be created.
- The customer quote expiry date cannot exceed the dealer quote expiry date.
- The dealer’s quote must be in status 'Customer Review' or 'Accepted'. It is not possible to create a client quote for quotes with status ‘Open’.
Steps to create a client quote
- Open the Quotes tab in the Customer Portal.
- Locate the quote you want to use as a base.
- Click Markup & Share.
- The quote opens in the Customer Pricing Tool page, where you can customize the client-facing version.
Customize your client quote
On the Customer Pricing Tool page, you can control what information and pricing appear on the client’s quote.
Display Options
Choose how pricing is shown to the client:
- No pricing
- Pricing only
- Pricing + markup
Choose to show/hide the following values:
- Price per item
- Line total
- SKU
- Summary
- Quantity
Select Quote Type
Send the quote as a:
- Quote
- Estimate
- Proposal
Add Markups
- Apply markups as a percentage (%) or fixed amount ($).
- Use Markup All to apply a percentage markup across all products.
- Taxes automatically update using the dealer’s product tax.
- View Your Cost versus the Price Per Item shown to your client.
Adjust the Client View
You can decide which quote details appear to your client (e.g., product info, totals, notes). By default, all information is displayed, but you can toggle visibility to control what’s shared.
Add additional fees and notes
- Use the Additional Fees section to include extra costs such as delivery or handling.
- If delivery is charged on your dealer quote, it automatically appears as an additional fee.
- The description can be edited, and the amount can be increased.
- The delivery fee itself cannot be deleted.
- Add a Message to Customer to include a personalized note in the quote.
Send or share the client quote
- Once your quote is ready, click Save.
- You can then either:
- Preview the quote, or
- Copy Customer Link to send manually.
- These options are available:
- From the pop-up that appears after saving, or
- Via the CTA buttons on the quote, which activate once changes are saved.
The quote tile will display that a Client Quote has been created, along with its expiry date.
FAQs
Q: Why can’t I create a client quote?
A: The dealer quote may be expired. A client quote can only be created while the dealer quote is still valid.
Q: Can I remove the delivery fee?
A: No. The delivery fee cannot be deleted if delivery is charged on your dealer quote, but you can rename it and adjust the amount upward.
Q: Why are Preview and Copy Link disabled?
A: These options become available only after the quote is saved with no unsaved changes.
